After a life‑altering car accident in 2012 left him paralyzed from the armpits down, Dominnic Fillmore chose perseverance over limitation. Through years of rehabilitation, full‑time work and continued education, he demonstrated that resilience is built through daily commitment and purpose. Now pursuing a degree in physical education at UW‑Stevens Point, Dominnic is preparing to become the kind of teacher who leads by example—showing students that determination, adaptability and self‑belief can overcome even the most profound challenges. His journey inspires others to push forward, advocate for themselves and believe in what is possible.
For his efforts, Dom was presented the 2026 College of Professional Studies Dick Cable and Judy Cable Anderson Student Heroes Award. Watch his story!
